Other Endeavours

Thanks to a generous bequest and donations over the years, the Gabriola Ambulance Society has accumulated a significant amount of capital, which is invested in income-producing financial instruments. In keeping with its mission and philosophy, the Society draws on this capital and/or the income generated from this capital for such philanthropic endeavours as funding an annual scholarship for a Gabriola student entering the medical field, subsidizing first aid training for Gabriola residents, and making donations to organizations whose purpose is to improve emergency services on our island and/or the health and welfare of our residents. Income from membership fees is not used for any of these philanthropic purposes. The most notable:

HELICOPTER PAD

Gabriola Community Health Care Centre:

The Gabriola Ambulance Society donated $10,000 for the construction of the helicopter pad at the newly built Gabriola Community Health Care Centre on Church Street in 2012. In 2018 a further $3,400 was donated to update and install the new lighting controller for the helipad.
