  • Since 1969, the Gabriola Ambulance Society has a long and noble history of serving people on the islands of Gabriola and Mudge. The first 25 years of the Society are documented in "Gabriola's Ambulance Society—the First 25 Years" by Jenni Gehlbach, in Issue 21, July 2009 of SHALE, the journal of the Gabriola Historical and Museum Society. Click Here [PDF] for article highlights.

People often confuse our organization with the BC Ambulance Service (BCEHS), which operates the ambulance on Gabriola.  The BCEHS is a separate organization and is not responsible for our equipment loans or membership applications.  If you have a medical emergency, please call 911.

  • The Society welcomes all members to its AGM. The Gabriola Ambulance Society holds its Annual General Meeting (AGM) in November each year and usually on the 3rd Tuesday in November.

Members generally receive notification of the AGM in late October, along with their annual membership renewal form. If members have provided their email address to the Society, the notification and membership renewal will be sent by email. Otherwise, it will be mailed.

  • The administrator looks after membership, paying ambulance user invoices, the home support initiative, and all other bookkeeping and general administrative tasks in support of the society’s bylaws and constitution.

Since the ability to email saves on postage and volunteer labour, the Society very much appreciates receiving email addresses.

The membership data collected by the Gabriola Ambulance Society is used only for the purposes of maintaining a confidential membership database for its own use and for the occasional member notice. The Gabriola Ambulance Society neither sells nor shares its membership data.
